Dear friends,
I invite you to share your time and musical talents as a gift...
- to give thanks for the past and for those who had the vision for Asbury United Methodist Church
- to give thanks for Asbury's current worship, nurture, and outreach programs, and
- for the future as Asbury goes forward living out God's Word.
The most important reason to join our Music Ministry is to use your God-given talent and to share your faith through song. It will take a commitment on your part, but I guarantee that the rewards will be many, the fun plentiful, and the fellowship great. Make the Music Ministry a part of your life! Come and help us build God's kingdom and to build disciples through singing, ringing and playing instruments!

Chancel Choir
We are a group of fun people with a wide range of ages who gather on Thursday nights at 7:05 and prepare to lead the congregation in worship on Sundays, through hymns, anthems and songs. We prepare a Christmas cantata and other special works throughout the year. Choral music, like any team effort, relies on individual contribution to achieve a common goal. Singers are encouraged to give their best at every age. We encourage everyone with an interest in music to be a part of this group. All we ask is that you show up! Rehearsal is on Thursday Evening at 7:05 pm in the Choir Room. Come tell your story of faith through song.
Worship Arts & Media
This is a group who contributes to the non-traditional aspects of our music ministry. From playing instruments in the band to leading the congregation in worship. This group requires more individual ability as a musician. In order to maintain the highest quality of music possible this group is by audition with Matt Lewis. Practice times are on Thursday evening at 8:00 pm in the Sanctuary. please contact Matt Lewis at 746-5349.
Carillon Choir
Requirements:
- You must be able to laugh at yourself.
- You must be willing to go to cookouts and Christmas parties
Being a member of the hand bell choir is a wonderful small group experience. It doesn't take a great amount of knowledge or time. Note value is the most useful musical knowledge to have. However, it is not required. We will teach you everything you need to know. We rehearse in the choir room one hour a week, Thursday evenings at 6:00. That's not bad for a busy person. Being part of worship is one of the best ways to worship. Everyone is welcome. Carol Elliot leads the hand bell choir.
Musicians
Asbury is blessed to have many talented musicians. It would be hard to mention the names of everyone. If you are a musician and are interested in sharing your gifts, please contact Adam Philley.
Men's Ensemble
Since 1992, a group of men that started out as a quartet has turned into an ensemble singing gospel hymns in close four-part harmony. Performances are scheduled mostly on third Sundays and practices are just before Chancel Choir with additional practice as needed. All men who are able to read music and/or sing on key are welcome to try this group and enjoy this spirit-filled music in a very special way. David Burroughs leads the Men's Ensemble.
Brass Ensemble
If you play a brass instrument and are at least 14 years old, come share your talent in a special way. We play in many cantatas, most services supporting hymns, and occasional special music. There are opportunities for solos, duets, and small ensembles. Rehearsal is called as needed.
