Wednesday nights at Asbury are called Connection, which is a mid-week time to "connect" with each other as a church family. Together we share a drop-in home-style supper that begins at 5:15 pm (donations accepted for meals) followed by studies designed for 3 year old's thru adults. Studies/Classes begin at 6:15 pm. Program ends at 7:15 pm. These Studies/Classes are a chance to gather for discussion and study of what it means to follow Jesus Christ.
Sacred Marriage led by Rev. Scott Adams: What if God gave you that handsome hunk of a husband, or that gorgeous wife, not to make you happy, but to make you holy? What if the ultimate purpose of marriage is not those all-star kids you've got, or that addition on your house that will help you sell it...to build a bigger house? What if marriage's ultimate purpose is to please God and make you like His Son? Our senior pastor, Rev. Scott Adams, will lead us through a 14-week study called "Sacred Marriage". It will be based on the book of that title by Gary Thomas, and Rev. Scott's twenty five years of experience and expertise in marriage and family counseling. We will meet each Wednesday evening in the Choir Room during our Connection program. Fellowship and dinner begins at 5:15pm followed by study beginning at 6:15 until 7:15pm.Sign up sheet will be in the lobby to reserve your spot. Participants are encouraged to purchase the book at a cost of $10 each. Books will be available to you through Asbury. “The Story of God…the Story of Us!” led by Matt Lewis in the Sanctuary. This study, designed for new believers and seasoned Christians alike, will expose you to God’s meta-narrative, provide a framework for the detailed study of scripture, and better equip you to make disciples of all the nations. Suppose a friend asked you this question: “Would you tell me about God and the bible?” Suppose you were invited by that same friend to further explain how to make sense of God’s word and why it makes a difference in your life. Well, if you are anything like most confessing Christians, you would be excited about the opportunity, but at the same time, terrifi ed at the thought of trying to answer these daunting questions. You might be tempted to quote your favorite scripture passage or suggest a “how to” book. You may even invite them to come to church or to a bible study with you. But what if you were put on the spot and had to respond to their questions? What would you say? Friends, I have good news! The bible tells a “grand story” that has a beginning, middle, and end (which is still in progress). Whether you realize it or not, you are very much a part of this story and have been called by God to not only share it with others, but to live it out. Sign up sheets are available in the lobby for both classes. This is a great opportunity to bring a friend!
