Confirmation Class at Asbury UMC

Sixth Grade Confirmation Class Confirmation training is something we think is very important at Asbury. It is not something we try to do in a brief 6 or 8 week program. It is far too important to conduct in a rushed process. At Asbury, Confirmation Training consists of the entire sixth grade school year. Young people involved in the class meet each Sunday morning during the Sunday School hour (9:30-10:30 am)

The class is designed to:

• give young people a good introduction to central teachings of the Christian faith
• introduce young people to leadership in their own church
• move young people toward greater faith commitment and truer Christian discipleship
• connect young people gradually, throughout the year, to Asbury's Youth Program
• answer questions young people have about faith, life, values, problems and related young teen issues

Additionally, the class gathers on Sunday evenings during the school year from 4:00 - 5:00 for handbells and 5:00 to 6:30 to prepare puppet shows to be presented during the Childrens Message portion of the Worship Services.

Asbury's confirmation program is one of the finest! Mission minded retreats and activities are fun and at the same time, growth and faith enhancing. Our confirmation teachers are Mike & Jill Brandao.

Tentative Remaining Schedule for 2009 Confirmation Year

March 13-14 - Jr Hi Sexuality and Morality Seminar

March 15 - Mudbugs game (Meet at church at 3:30, bring $13)

March 28 - Confirmation Day with the Bishop - bring $ for ice cream

April 19, 26, and May 3 - Pastor meets with Confirmands during SS hour

May 29 - Rehearsal for Confirmation Sunday (6-8 pm)

May 31 - Confirmation Sunday

Sunday mornings at 9:30 am - Sunday School Class; Sunday Evenings at 5:00 pm Handbells, 5:45 pm Puppet Practice

We will schedule a couple of Mission opportunities also. Will let you know as we update.
